Carmichaels, PA/Press/December 13, 2019 – Elizabeth Popielarcheck, Teacher with Carmichaels Area School District was selected for inclusion into the Top Educators of America 2019-2020 by The Who’s Who Directories.
Elizabeth Popielarcheck is a emotional support (special education) teacher working with students in grades K-5 at Carmichaels Area Elementary Center. She has been with the school since the 2010/2011 school term. Prior to teaching at Carmichaels she worked as a full-time emotional support teacher at East Franklin, an alternative education facility, teaching students in grades 6-12 social studies and English. In addition to working with students with special needs, Mrs. Popielarcheck had the privilege of working with student teachers from Waynesburg University, as a cooperative teacher.
Following in her father’s footsteps, (an aviation mechanic in the United States Navy) Mrs. Popielarcheck join the military, entering the United States Army under the Delayed Entry Program (DEP) in 1998 as a junior in high school. Upon graduation in 1999, she attended basic training in Fort Sill, OK. She served four years nine months active duty in the United States Army from July 22, 1999 – April 22, 2004.
Mrs. Popielarcheck is proud of her service for her country; and it has been a true honor and a rewarding experience, but she realized military life, was not her calling but teaching was a passion she had since the second grade. As a special ed teacher she knows that teaching in that area, you have to be inspired by someone. Her sister was her inspiration.
Affectionately known as Mrs. “Pop”, her main priority is her students. Her students has expressed that she is a wonderful educator and role model. She enjoys working with children and making a difference. She take the responsibility entrusted upon her to educate the community’s children seriously, and is honored to be a part of a mission that is bigger than herself.
Mrs. Popielarcheck will receive her Doctorate in Special Education from West Virginia University, she has a Master of Education with Reading Specialist Certification and a Bachelor of Science in Education from California University of Pennsylvania. She is member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association, and Council for Exceptional Children.
Mrs. Popielarcheck received the Outstanding Woman of the Year Award from California University of Pennsylvania and was the recipient of the California Teaching Scholars Scholarship.
