Amy Garcia is a Home Economics teacher at Clovis High School. She has been a Career and Technical Education Teacher at CHS since 1999. She also serves as the advisor for Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA). Ms. Garcia believes that every student can achieve their inner potential with guidance, praise and courage. Ms. Garcia is an immigrant and the the first in her family to go to college. She is an outstanding teacher who is respected by everyone she encounters.
Ms. Garcia received a Masters in Education and Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Eastern New Mexico University. She is a member of the Association for Career & Technical Education (ACTE) and The National Education Association (NEA).
Ms. Garcia was honored as the 2018 New Mexico Association for Career and Technical Education (NMACTE) Teacher of the Year in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The organization’s awards and recognizes those “who have contributed to the success of (career and technical education) through the quality of their work and their involvement in the community.” She received the Spirit Advising Award in 2006. She was also recognized as a Master Advisor in 2017-2018 and distinguished as Highly Effective in Excellence from the New Mexico Education Department.
